We try to provide the best coverage for our wedding photography clients through the use of a second shooter. We are currently looking for additional photographers.
All submissions will receive a response. There are more details below the form that answer the most common questions.
What is your philosophy on second shooters?
Our philosophy is: do the right thing. We do our best to treat our second shooters the way we would want to be treated. We feel this is a good philosophy for many areas of business and life.
In practical terms, this means we have meals for our second shooters guaranteed in the contract with our couples. Other examples are below, such as our flexibility with portfolio use and in our pay scheme.
How much do you pay?
When speaking to other photographers or reading discussion groups we’ve often been surprised at how much variety exists when compensating second photographers. Our starting rate is $50/hour and our minimum coverage is four hours.
How does the second photographer share the images?
We’ll give you memory cards before the wedding which are returned to us at the end. Assuming your camera has two memory cards slots, we’ll provide one card and you’ll provide the second. We’ll keep ours, you’ll keep yours.
Can the second use the images on their own website and social media?
We are sensitive to the reasons for becoming a second shooter, especially for new photographers looking to build their portfolio. We can empathize because every wedding photographer starts without a portfolio. In most cases there is a six month embargo on web and social use. We send out a reminder email after the embargo ends.
Will the second be credited on our website and social media?
While we are not contractually obligated to do so, our goal is to give credit whenever possible.
Does the second need to credit the main photographer when posting on their website or social media?
No. We don’t expect this, and don’t ask for it. We believe that our second shooters should be able to show off their portfolio without worrying about crediting us.
